Justice Scalia addresses the matter of the former in his essay, now published by Princeton Press, in which he puts forward some ideas regarding the interpretation of both statutes and the Constitution. The book also contains responses from such notables as Laurence Tribe.

In his book, Scalia addresses how judges should interpret statutory and constitutional law. (Statutory law is written law set down by a legislature – as opposed to oral or customary law.) Scalia writes that U.S. courts, sadly, "have no intelligible, generally accepted and consistently applied, theory of statutory interpretation.".

Justice Antonin Scalia's book, A Matter of Interpretation is essentially Scalia's essay followed by a set of essays in response by various authors, themselves of which are followed by a final response from Scalia. These essays form an excellent introduction to several major lines of thought in Constitutional interpretation, written by some of the foremost figures in each area.

The contents of a new book by an experienced United Nations interpreter, James Nolan, Interpretation: Techniques and Exercises (Clevedon Buffalo Toronto: Multilingual Matters Ltd., ), the fruit of decades of analysis and experience, provide a wealth of material for both students and teachers and students.

A Matter of Interpretation: Federal Courts and the Law. The book, A Matter of Interpretation: Federal Courts and the Law, is framed around a clear, accessible essay entitled "Common-Law Courts in a Civil-Law System: The Role of United States Federal Courts in Interpreting the Constitution and Laws," written by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

I received this book for free from Netgalley. This did not influence my review. A Matter of Interpretation by Elizabeth MacDonald is meaty, in-depth historical fiction, recounting the life of a lesser known historical figure from the Middle Ages (my favorite time period). This rather somber tale is the type of historical fiction I love.Summary.

Augustine examines the second verse of Genesis: "The earth was invisible and formless, darkness was over the deep." He says that "heaven" does not mean the sky, but the immaterial "heaven of heavens," and "earth" does not mean the ground, but the formless matter that is the basis of all physical forms. For upcoming student of political science and the interpretation of the constitution, I LOVE this book.

Gives an insight into the most unappreciated methods of interpreting the constitution. I recommend it % and I am glad that it is a whole section in our philosophy of law class/5(24).
